A town’s history sounds different when the people who lived it do some of the telling. At Acworth’s Depot Park History Center, oral histories sit alongside videos, photographs and written displays, giving visitors several ways to understand the community beyond a list of dates.
The city describes 19 professionally produced videos and more than 50 oral histories from longtime residents. A display case maintained by the Save Acworth History Foundation adds memorabilia, while the nearby historic caboose contains interpretation about Acworth and the Dixie Highway.

The center is at 4794 South Main Street, near Main and Lemon streets. The city currently lists both the history center and caboose as free, open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Check for any special closure before making a dedicated trip.
For a short visit, choose one account to hear all the way through and then look for a related place on a downtown walk. A remembered shop, journey or neighborhood detail can give an ordinary street a second layer. Leave time for the caboose rather than treating it only as a backdrop for a photograph.
